Istanbul is just 1.5 hours from Bucharest — the closest international treatment option
Romania's geographic proximity to Turkey makes Istanbul one of the most accessible international destinations for Romanian families seeking advanced autism treatment. With direct flights from Bucharest taking just 1.5 hours and a structured treatment program designed for international families, the path to regenerative medicine is remarkably practical.
Romanian families seeking advanced regenerative medicine for their children with autism benefit from an extraordinary geographic advantage: Istanbul is just 1.5 hours by direct flight from Bucharest, making it one of the closest international medical destinations available. Romania's healthcare system, while improving, has limited regenerative medicine options for neurodevelopmental conditions. Istanbul offers Romanian families access to advanced stem cell and exosome therapy protocols within a modern clinical environment, at costs that are competitive even by Romanian standards. Autism Stem Care has experience serving Romanian families and understands the specific considerations they bring to the treatment decision.
01Chapter
Romania's healthcare system does not currently offer stem cell therapy or exosome therapy for autism as clinical treatments. Families seeking these advanced therapies must look abroad. Istanbul's extraordinary proximity — a 1.5-hour flight from Bucharest — makes it the most accessible international destination for Romanian families. This proximity reduces travel costs, minimizes disruption for children with autism, and allows families to travel without the complexity of long-haul journeys. The medical infrastructure in Istanbul is more developed than what is available domestically for regenerative medicine, while treatment costs remain competitive and accessible.

Romanian families enjoy one of the shortest and cheapest international flight options to Istanbul. Cultural and culinary overlap is meaningful — Balkan flavours, family-led dining and Orthodox Christian holiday respect are all familiar.
April–June and September–October are ideal. Winter flights are very cheap and the short flight makes off-season travel realistic.

Direct flights from Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport to Istanbul take approximately 1.5 hours, with multiple daily departures on Turkish Airlines, TAROM, and Pegasus Airlines. Flights from Cluj-Napoca and other Romanian cities are available with connections. Romanian citizens enter Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days. The extremely short flight time makes Istanbul practically a neighboring city for medical travel purposes.
Istanbul Airport handles arrivals from Romania efficiently. Romanian citizens with visa-free entry clear immigration quickly. Our VIP transfer service provides comfortable private transportation from the airport to your hotel — the entire journey from Romanian airport check-in to Istanbul hotel room can take less time than many domestic Romanian journeys.
We offer accommodation recommendations suited to Romanian families at various budget levels. Options include quality international hotels, comfortable mid-range properties, and serviced apartments with kitchen facilities. All are selected for proximity to the clinic, family-friendliness, and value. Istanbul's accommodation offers excellent quality relative to cost, which Romanian families consistently appreciate.
08Chapter
Romanian families receive the same comprehensive, individually designed treatment programs as all international patients. Programs include thorough medical assessment, MSC therapy and/or exosome therapy tailored to your child's profile, supportive treatments, monitoring, and structured follow-up. All communication is in English, and we ensure clear, accessible explanations throughout the process.
Romanian families often bring specific practical considerations. The short flight time from Bucharest is a significant advantage for children with autism who may find travel challenging — at 1.5 hours, it's shorter than many bus journeys within Romania. Cost transparency is important, and we provide detailed upfront pricing with no hidden charges. Some Romanian families ask about the quality difference between Turkish and Romanian medical facilities — Istanbul's medical infrastructure has received massive investment and meets international accreditation standards that provide reassurance about treatment quality and safety.
Suntem aproape vecini cu Istanbul, dar calitatea documentației și a coordonării a fost la nivel vest-european.
09Chapter
We maintain professional medical standards, transparent pricing, and genuine care for every family. Romanian families consistently appreciate our clear communication, detailed documentation, and the organized treatment experience. We understand the specific needs and expectations of Romanian families and ensure our service meets them.
Why this matters for Romania families: For Romanian families, Istanbul may be the most practical international treatment destination in the world. The 1.5-hour flight is shorter than driving between many Romanian cities. The time difference is zero (Romania and Turkey share the same time zone), eliminating jet lag concerns entirely — a significant advantage for children with autism who are sensitive to routine disruption. Visa-free entry keeps logistics simple. Istanbul's affordable hospitality means accommodation costs are reasonable, and the overall trip expense is manageable for Romanian families. The city's proximity means families can even consider multiple shorter visits rather than one extended stay.
